Fundraising Volunteer

KIDS ON THE BLOCK OTTAWA (KOTB) is a community based registered charity that promotes disability awareness, bullying prevention and acceptance through puppet performances in schools and community groups.

 

DESCRIPTION: The Fundraising Volunteer will assist KOTB Ottawa in raising funds, finding funding opportunities, contacting potential donors, applying for grants and event planning activities.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  In coordination with the Board, the Fundraising Volunteer will:

  • develop and implement a coordinated fundraising program
  • identify and research donor possibilities and grant opportunities
  • plan for and manage fundraising events
  • handle donor acknowledgements and thank you letters
  • maintenance of donor matrix and fundraising records
  • report to the KOTB Board monthly

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • good listening skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • experience in fundraising for charity organization
  • grant experience is considered an asset

 

TIME COMMITMENT: Average of 2-3 hours/week plus attending monthly evening Board meetings from September to June
